contact@chatpolyglot.com Find your language exchange partner

How it works?

Chatpolyglot is a language exchange app that connects people worldwide who want to practice their foreign languages.

Videoconference is availble to chat by voice and video (not mandatory).

There are no teachers selling language lessons, and no paid exchanges. Only people wanting to chat for free with another person for as long as they want, whenever they want. And good news: all is free!

The chat takes place via video chat. Example: I am French, my native language is French, and I want to practice my English. I am looking for another native English speaker who wants to practice their French.

Long explanation (in details)…

To chat, folow theses steps

2️⃣ Activate your instant avaibility: Instant Acces button

Activating my Instant Access button means I am available to chat my foreign languages immediately. Once Instant Access is activated, a 5-minute timer starts, and my user card turns flashing green, clearly visible to other users. This timer means I am immediately available to chat online and will be on hold for the next 5 minutes. Be careful not to miss any offers.

WARNING: Enabling Instant Access means I am available right now (i.e., in front of my mobile phone, computer, or tablet screen). If I don’t respond to a request from another user, my rating as a reliable ⭐⭐⭐ user will drop. As a result, you will be less visible in search results, and your reliability rating will be lowered.

3️⃣ Connect to the leeting link via mobile or app

Rating ⭐⭐⭐

The reliability rating is based on 3 criteria: 1. Number of successful chats (very good rating) 2. Number of unsuccessful chats (good rating) 3. Number of missed chat offers (bad rating).

Of course, your rating will increase depending on the number of chats you have, whether successful or not. Be careful not to miss any opportunities to respond (positively or negatively) to chat offers while my Instant Access is enabled (5 minutes), otherwise, my rating will drop! One or more negative responses do not affect your rating; you have every right to refuse chat requests without it negatively impacting your reliability score.

During these 5 minutes, I wait for someone to agree to chat with me.
Once the other person makes the request, I can accept or decline. If I decline, the other person is notified of my refusal; otherwise, if I accept the chat, a Jitsi chat link is created. Accepting the chat means my instant access timer (the 5-minute timer) stops (my card is no longer flashing green).
The video chat link is visible to both the other person and me; we each go to the Jitsi video chat link.

A good chat means that everyone respects the time allotted in the other person’s language: 50% of the time the conversation is in English (the language I wish to practice), and 50% of the time is in French (the language the other user wishes to practice).

Good chat!
